Housed in the former Greta Point tavern building that was famously moved to its current site by barge in 12 pieces earlier this century, Foxglove Bar & Kitchen opened June 2010 in the heart of Wellington’s Queens Wharf precinct.
The owners have designed a series of smaller spaces within this large building, bringing a sense of intimacy to the different lounge areas. The three bars within Foxglove have their own unique personalities, adorned with a touch of 1940's vintage glamour and coupled with sweeping harbour views from every vantage point.
The dining room is located on the ground floor with 180 degree views of the harbour and the Day’s Bay ferry on its journey to and from the seaside suburb of Eastborne. The dining room seats 40 guests with a further 14 seated at the beautiful banquet table under the shadow of our two story living wall - the largest example in New Zealand.
The lobby bar on the ground floor is the perfect corner for a rendezvous of any description, with casual dining and lounge spaces filled with oversized armchairs and couches. Large bi-folding doors open out to informal all-weather outdoor areas.
Upstairs the large gleaming expanse of brass and bespoke copper piping display form the heart of the Brass Monkey bar. To the left of the Brass Monkey, The Games Room takes a saunter down memory lane with an impressive selection of vinyl, vintage cameras, memorabilia and board games for guests to enjoy. The Games room is available for private hire and can accommodate up to 50 guests for a cocktail function.
Keeping with upstairs the Sitting Room begs for the relaxed and laid back company of friends. With an open fire place, overstuffed couches & ottomans and hot pink velour swivel chairs.
Spot the oak wardrobe and walk through to Foxtail Champagne & Cocktail bar (separate external entrance also on the ground floor at the north end of the building) - home to the city's best selection of rare & fine whiskey, Champagne & cocktails. Available for exclusive cocktail parties & special events hire up to 80 people, Foxtails' exclusive entrance, private balcony and 240 degree views make it a must see on your planning list.
